Child Contact

A child contact centre is neutral place where children of separated families can enjoy contact with their non-resident parents and sometimes other family members, in a comfortable and safe environment.

All of our contact services are child friendly, safe and secure and we complement the work that we undertake with families by providing confidential contact facilities which cater for the needs of children and young people as well as their parents, carers and friends.

Our Centres

Our child contact centres in Dudley, Coventry and Rugeley are generally open from 9.00am – 6pm (other hours are negotiable) seven days a week. Weekends are naturally very busy but we can facilitate contact any day of the week including Bank Holidays.

Our contacts take place in our family centres or off site at locations around the Midlands region. Our West Midlands base means we primarily work in areas such as Walsall, Sandwell, Wolverhampton, Birmingham, Dudley, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Coventry and Warwickshire. However we are able to deliver services across the wider Midlands region and England such as Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire.

Accreditation

Midlands Social Care achieved its Enhanced Accreditation Status from the National Association of Child Contact Centres (NACCC) in August 2009. In addition we are contracted by the Child and Family Court Support Service – CAFCASS – to provide private law child contact services for Birmingham, the Black Country and Staffordshire areas.

From Point of Referral

All of our referrals are dealt with by a dedicated contact team who are able to update referring agencies on the progress of contact throughout the time we work with families.

To make a referral, complete our initial enquiry form.

The contact team will arrange all aspects of contact sessions directly with the family, or as directed by the referring agency, and is able to send session recording notes to the referrer.

Child contact is one of the most important aspects of a child’s life and in order to ensure that contact works effectively we encourage regular communication between the organisation and those who refer contact to us. This is reinforced by the completion of contact session recordings, review processes for families and professionals, and feedback opportunities.
