Volunteer Programme

Midlands Social Care is able to offer voluntary positions for people that are looking to gain experience of working in an environment with children and families.

The nature of our work can be challenging so we do ask that you have a commitment to work with families. You may be working towards achieving your NVQs or a Social Work/Care degree, however this is not a prerequisite.

All of our voluntary positions are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Criminal Records Check and reference checks.

We have positions in all parts of the organisation that include; shadowing contact workers, supporting the admin team and supporting the senior worker to manage families in the centre.

At the end of your time with Midlands Social Care you will receive a certificate for completing the program.

As part of the programme Midlands Social Care commits to the following:

  • To introduce you to the work expected of you and the training you need to meet the responsibilities of this role.
  • To explain the standards we expect for our services and to encourage and support you to achieve and maintain them;
  • To provide a named person who will meet with you regularly to discuss your volunteering and any successes and problems;
  • To do our best to help you develop your volunteering role with us.
  • To provide adequate training and feedback in support of our policies.

We ask the the volunteer to agree to:

  • To help Midlands Social Care to fulfil its services;
  • To perform the role to the best of my ability;
  • To follow Midlands Social Care’s procedures and standards
  • To maintain the confidential information of the organisation and of its families;
  • To meet time commitments and standards agreed to and to give reasonable notice so other arrangements can be made when this is not possible;
